Review:
Sushi Murasaki is my favorite sushi restaurant in Orange County. It is family owned, and occupies the lower corner of a business building on the corner of Fairview and MacArthur. The place is small and crowded, so calling ahead of time is always a smart idea. Generally, reservations are expected.

We have been here so many times, and have accumulated a lot of photos in the process. Not much to say about this place, except that it is awesome! The food is always super fresh, and the service is friendly and well-intended (even if hardly perfect). Your bill at Murasaki can add up to staggering amounts if you don’t watch yourself, but a great meal is usually worth a bit of buyer’s remorse.

Below are some photos of Murasaki and the food we’ve had there.

If you are a new sushi eater and are looking for many variations of spicy tuna and crunchy rolls, this may not be your cup of tea. They have a bit of that, but for the most part, you can rely on pretty tasty, traditional Japanese fare. The sea eel and soy milk pudding are must-tries; The noodle soups and omakase are also popular choices, and dessert is always a good option! Sometimes, I go here just for the sweets! I’d stay away from the salads though… everything but the kitchen sink.

Rating:
8 out of 10 spoonfuls (Bump it up and use all real crab meat! I’ll pay a dollar extra!)

Value:
$$$
